Barb Viste-Johnson has experience developing clinical therapy programs for residents of all ages, and has presented on a variety of topics, from depression to adolescent development. She is a licensed clinical social worker through the state of Wisconsin.
Get to know Barb
What are some of your hobbies outside of work? I enjoy spending time with family, especially my grandchildren, as well as running, biking, triathlons, water skiing, gardening, and cheering on the Packers and Brewers.
What is your favorite thing about your job? My favorite thing about my job is working with patients and assisting them in utilizing their strengths when they are challenged with life stressors.
What sort of blogs/news channels do you follow? The Affinity blog, of course!! I also follow blogs/news related to health care trends and medical home.
If you weren’t a therapist what would your dream job be? I’m not sure what my job would be, but it would be something outside by a sandy beach in a warm climate.
Where did you grow up/where is your family from? I grew up on a dairy farm in Southern Door County on the lakeside.
What is the hottest trend in your industry? The hottest trend right now is the mind-body connection and how the brain reacts and adapts to trauma.
