Kari Andrews, RN specialist
Kari has been a nurse for seven years, working all over the country in a variety of nursing roles. While she has enjoyed being a travel nurse in the past, working with pediatrics, orthopedics, etc., she said that being an RN specialist at the Affinity Medical Home- Koeller Street location for the past year has been the most rewarding job yet. She loves being able to help her patients manage their chronic diseases and has seen solid evidence that each of these conditions can be improved for people.

What are some of your hobbies outside of work? I love to travel and explore our world! I like to read a good book or work on my latest quilting project, but mostly I enjoy when my husband and I can spend time with family and friends. We love game night!
What is your favorite thing about your job? It’s definitely the people: my patients and my coworkers!
What sort of blogs/news channels do you follow? I love reading http://thepioneerwoman.com and I also have a lot of family and friends that have started their own blogs. It’s a great way for me to stay in touch with them from a distance.
If you weren’t a nurse, what would your dream job be? I’d love to be a photographer for a travel magazine!
Where did you grow up/where is your family from? I grew up in the Twin Cities and my family is still there. I also spent 12 years living in west central Minnesota, and lived all over the country while working as a travel nurse. My husband is from Appleton which is what brought me here, and it’s home now.
What is the hottest trend in your industry? I think Affinity is leading the way with giving our patients personalized care through the medical home model.
